What is a Caspian Horse
    
The temperament of a Caspian is highly intelligent and alert, while being kind and willing. They have a natural floating action at all gaits - a long, low swinging trot (as smooth as a fairy dancing on eggshells), smooth, rocking canter and rapid flat out gallop, naturally light, well balanced and agile.
Petete Caspian Face The general appearance of a Caspian is of a well-bred horse in minature, with a fine silky coat in summer and thick coat in winter. They often have a very long flowing mane and tail.The tail is carried gaily in action, they range in colours of bay, grey, chestnut, occasionally black, dun and cream. Some white markings may be seen on the face and legs. Their ears are short, wide apart, and finely drawn, often noticeably in-turned at the tips. They have a wide vaulted forehead, deep cheekbones in a short head that tapers to a fine muzzle. Large almond shaped eyes, often dark and prominent, the nostrils are large and set low. The body of the Caspian is characteristically slim, with a graceful neck, long sloping shoulder and deep girth. The limbs are slender, with strong, dense flat bone and little or no feathering at the fetlocks.Their hooves are oval shaped,strong and neat often with very small frog.

  • As a lead-rein or first ridden pony the Caspian is ideal, giving a small child comfort and control. In addition the calm temperament and attractive appearance command attention in the show ring.

  • Jumping: The Jumping ability of the Caspian can only be described as extraordinary, they have been known to jump as high as 5 foot with a teenager on their back.

  • Driving: The Caspian is graceful and energetic in harness, being far stronger than his appearance would suggest, his acceleration and manoeuverability are second to none.
